Clear, intelligible interviews in noisy locations

Interviews often have to be conducted in noisy locations, and the best way to get a clearly audible interview without having to clip a lavalier microphone to the subject is to use a narrow-pattern shotgun microphone that can isolate the subject from the surrounding hubbub. The ECM-CG60 is an excellent microphone for this type of application, and mounted on Sony cameras it provides a compact, mobile, pro-quality system that can be used to grab interviews whenever and wherever they arise.

Shotgun Microphone Characteristics

“Shotgun” microphones are highly directional, designed to pick up on-axis sound from the front while rejecting sound that arrives from other directions. This is the type of microphone most frequently used for television and movie production where the ability to isolate the sound of specific subjects is essential.
