Here's one way you can combine professional quality wireless microphone pickup with a camera mounted XLR output microphone to effectively cover an outdoor event such as a wedding ceremony. The XLR-K2M XLR Adaptor Kit can be used with a UWP-D wireless microphone system for this purpose. In this example the wireless microphone included with the UWP-D12 system is mounted on a stand near the marriage officiant and bride/groom, transmitting to the portable receiver connected to the XLR-K2M XLR Adaptor mounted on the camera. The ECM-XM1 microphone included with the XLR-K2M XLR Adaptor kit is mounted directly on the XLR-K2M unit. This setup allows you to record clear, stable audio of the wedding vows via the wireless system while capturing the overall atmosphere with the camera-mounted microphone.
In addition to simply being more solid and reliable because of the connector design and construction, XLR connections are normally used for balanced three-conductor signal lines that are much more resistant to induced noise than unbalanced two-conductor lines. Most professional microphones and audio equipment use balanced lines for optimum signal quality. The XLR-K2M XLR Adaptor Kit not only provides XLR input connectors for professional microphones, but includes high-quality preamplifiers with a range of control functions that can deliver superior quality as well. In the above system the XLR-K2M provides an ideal interface between the UWP-D wireless microphone system and camera, ensuring that the highest audio quality is achieved.
