The works in this exhibition are street snapshots taken in New York. Stieglitz, Abbott, Weezy, Klein... New York is a city where masterpieces have been taken by numerous photographers throughout the history of photography.
However, I feel that what was captured in the film is a symbol of a city beyond the real New York and that we can go through these photos to discover another world hidden behind them.
Respecting the works of great artists who came before me, I walked the streets in search of my own fantasy and pressed the shutter-release button as my body reacted to the people and unexpected sights I came across.
A faded poster of the Ramones hangs in a room at a cheap hotel on Bowery Street. The site of the legendary CBGB, a New York punk mecca, is just around the corner.
In the evening, the sounds of Harley-Davidsons from the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club blasts around the city, echoing through the city streets.
The period I shot these works included September 11. While the memorial ceremony was taking place, a strange cloud was rising over the point where the Twin Towers once stood and One World Trade Center now stands.
The lights of the years flowing in the city of New York echoed against each other like geological strata and gave me shivers. I would be happy if another world, hidden beyond the photos, stood realistically in this space.
