Takaki Terasawa Photo Exhibition Amazing OceanBlue waters teeming with life

I moved to Teuri Island, Hokkaido over 40 years ago. The island is a seabird breeding ground of world importance. I decided to try photographing the birds that soared above the sea from a small boat I bought a few years after being on the island. Wanting to view the sea like the birds do is what spawned my relationship with this watery wonderland.

I have tracked seabirds and mammals above and below water from the polar regions to the tropics. For example, during a subantarctic expedition in December 2022, I photographed penguins that swim deep underwater and albatrosses that glide forever on the wind - two splendid creatures that have dynamically adapted to the sea to survive. These are just some of the photos of seas around the world you will see at this exhibition.

The amazing things these creatures do to survive should open hearts and minds to the infinite wonders of the sea.
