This exhibition displays the Grand Prix and special award-winning works.
The Department of Photography Special Award is an event where all students enrolled in the Department of Photography, Faculty of Arts at Tokyo Polytechnic University are eligible to receive accolades for their outstanding achievements based on work completed during the current academic year.
In the year of the 100th anniversary of the university's founding, this year's Department of Photography Special Award, which celebrated its 10th anniversary, exhibited selected works from first year students, sophomores, juniors and seniors for six days between January 30 and February 4, 2023. The students were able to freely develop their works on the given walls, creating an exhibition full of individuality. This year, for the first time in three years, visitors from outside the university were allowed to attend, going beyond our university students to include their families, high school teachers and high school students.
On the final day of the exhibition, we invited photographer Taishi Hirokawa, photographer Ryo Owada, curator Miho Odaka, critic and art writer Yuzuru Murakami and former assistant of the Department of Photography Moe Shimogome to be the special judges to conduct a question-and-answer session and review of the works; this year's Grand Prix was decided.
In this exhibition, the works of students who have won the Grand Prix, Special Jury Award, Faculty Award and Audience Award are being displayed.
