In collaboration with SIE and SCA, our contingent of over 200 people joined us in celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community in July. Pride offered an opportunity to stand together with our LGBTQIA+ friends and colleagues, making our voices heard and spreading a positive message throughout our community.

The 2024-2025 grant program is designed to support nonprofits that partner with next-gen creators in marginalized and underrepresented communities.
A social impact and diversity panel with CREATE ACTION grantees took place during Kando Trip in August for attendees to get to know the nonprofits better and feel like they have a stake in the program.

37 employees, family and friends from San Diego and San Jose took part in the California Coastal Clean Up Day on September 21. Two clean ups at Lake Hodges, San Diego County and Natural Bridges State Park, Santa Cruz.

Employees and the community received a special screening of a groundbreaking series highlighting the stories of underrepresented veterans who have served in the military's Special Operations, followed by a candid panel discussion.

Collectively, our Summer Challengers ran, walked, pedaled and swam a total of 290,285 km (+10% vs 2023), which generated €35,000 for our chosen charity, Save the Children. Plus, we also donated a further €15,000 to charities chosen by the top three teams in each category. This brings our total charity donation to €50,000.

In response to the extreme flooding caused by Storm Boris, Sony Europe has donated €20k to the Red Cross organizations in the regions most affected. The flooding has affected many central and eastern European regions, causing destruction and loss of life.

This year SSS EUTDC held its volunteering day in the local woods, helping SAT - Bindesi branch (Tridentine Mountaineers Society) take care of hiking trails in the mountains.

On the afternoon of July, the CHAT team took part in a riverbank cleaning volunteering activity. The 20-strong team, made up of Consumer, Sony AI and SSS employees, supported the Schlieren city cleaning services by collecting rubbish from riverbanks in a protected wildlife area close to the Schlieren office.

Back in July, members of the Home Entertainment PPM team organized a volunteering day in partnership with the Basingstoke Canal Society. The team undertook painting duties, as well as preparing and cleaning lock gates, bollards and surrounds. Not only did the Basingstoke Canal Society and the local community benefit from their efforts, but the team were also able to spend some time together.

6000 PET bottles were collected from the SOMEA office as part of an ongoing campaign, since October 2022, to encourage employees to reduce pollution through recycling. The August exercise has granted SOMEA a certificate of participation from DGRADE. Further, the `Donate Old Clothes' continues to contribute an additional five bags (90cm x 50xm) of clothes in June 2024.

In September 2024, Sony Foundation hosted it's Brissy4Ward lunch in Queensland, raising funds for the Foundation's youth cancer accommodation program, You Can Stay. This program provides free accommodation for youth cancer patients and their families who are required to travel to Australian capital cities for specialized treatment and care.
The event was supported by Sony Group employee volunteers on the day and with the help of our very generous corporate and media partners Sony Foundation Australia raised net AUD$834,450 (JPY¥83,693,543 | USD$561,208).

Over 150 children with disability were treated to a holiday of a lifetime at one of six Sony Foundation Children's Holiday Camps that took place during September. Over 300 high school students volunteered to be the primary carer for a child with disability and completed approximately 6,000 hours of disability care training. Children participated in a variety of activities including swimming, cricket, disco parties, craft and movies nights.
Sony Foundation donated $AU112,000 (JPY¥11,262,174 | USD$75,420) to fund the six camps which was supported by teachers, medical volunteers and parents.

On 10 July 2024, SOTHAI donated Sony Alpha 7 IV Kit, with lens and accessories, to the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand (BCST). This contribution would support the organization's activities, including bird watching, researching on natural habitats, and media production aimed at raising awareness and promoting sustainability within the community. Lastly, to support the local community in Northen Thailand affected by the recent flooding disaster, employees donated necessities to the affected through Thai Post Campaign and the Mirror Foundation.

As part of its #EcoJourneywithSony campaign to inspire and educate the public about sustainable practices and the importance of reducing plastic waste, SES held a social media contest and selected 15 participants to attend an exclusive beeswax wrap workshop and the benefits of the eco-conscious alternative to minimize environmental footprint.

SES Science Journey was held in Hubei Science &Technology Museum on Sep. collaborating not only with toio™ but also Yuru Music for the first time, with stage performance &an experience zone set on-site to provide the instrument for trial. IP mascot of "Daifuku-kun" from SCP also joined for interaction.

Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA) held exhibitions in Taipei and Kaohsiung recently to promote the Top 20 winners from the 13th edition of the competition in Taiwan. Apart from displaying the winning entries, interactive activities were also arranged including the Clown's Science Park and composing music with facial expression. The exhibition targeted kids, parents, teachers and Sony employees with their families, and over 22,000 visitors visited the showcase.

The Aichi Prefecture Nishi Mikawa Ecosystem Network Council, to which the Koda Site is affiliated, is promoting the 'Angel Forest' project, aimed at increasing the number of acorn seedlings to conserve native species.
Every autumn, the Koda site conducts acorn picking in Sony's Forest. After selecting and germinating the collected acorns, they are nurtured in employees' homes for about one year, and in the following November, the seedlings are planted in the 'Angel Forest' (Higashikawahara-cho, Okazaki City). In September, an acorn picking event was held, with about 30 participants, including employees and their families. On the day of the event, everyone engaged in acorn gathering, sorting, and filling pots with soil, and there was also a lecture by an insect expert and an explanation of the sapling foster parent program.

On August 2nd, the CurioStep Summer Challenge 2024 workshop titled "Make an IC recorder, play and learn with fun" took place at the Kisarazu site, with 26 elementary school students and their families joining.
During the two-hour workshop, the kids learned how sound and IC recorders work, then assemble their own recorders by using screwdrivers.

SNC provided the high-speed optical line 'NURO Hikari' free of charge to locations where experiential opportunities are needed and implemented the 'NURO Online Program' in collaboration with Sony Group's educational program 'CurioStep with Sony' on August 20, targeting children during the summer vacation. Sony Sendai Technology Center and Sony City Osaki were connected via 'NURO Hikari' and the telepresence system 'MADO,' allowing participants to enjoy music creation utilizing all five senses.

In August, the 35th Disassembly Workshop - Learn How Things Work - was held at Sony City Minato Mirai. In this workshop, children, along with Sony employees, disassembled familiar electrical appliances by themselves, learning about their internal workings and tool usage. This event is conducted as part of Sony Group's 'CurioStep,' which is our social contribution activity, and it aims to foster children's curiosity and individuality. This time, 25 pairs of elementary school children in grades three to six and their parents participated.
